Amidst the heightened tension in Nigeria, a group identified as the Buhari support group said it has uncovered plots by some opposition members to raise militia groups to unleash terrors in some volatile Southern States.
The National Secretary of the group, Nonso Ezedinma, who disclosed this while speaking in Abuja, said the group has a list of some political influencers, Governors, youth organizations and organizations behind the planned terrors.
According to Ezedinma, the group has forwarded their names to security agencies for necessary action to avert the planned attacks. The Buhari support group gave the sponsors of the militia groups till the end of May to disband or face mass action.
Meanwhile, Ezedinma said the group also has classified information on plans by the opposition to politicizing the security situation in the country to create chaos and score cheap political goals.
Ezedinma noted some opposition elements do not mind sponsoring the killings, kidnapping, and raping of innocent Nigerians, despite President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts to address the situation.
The group added that some individuals exposed for looting public funds have decided to apply all the resources they accumulated during their 16 years reign to achieve their agenda of bringing the Buhari-led administration down.
Earlier, the Commander of the US special operations command, Africa, Dagvin Anderson has warned that
Al-Qaeda and ISIS are planning to penetrate the Southern region of Nigeria.
According to Dagvin, Al-Qaeda has started penetrating the north-western part of the country, with an attempt to extend to other parts of West Africa.
