Buhari Restates Impact of Infrastructure Devt on Economic Growth

President Muhammadu Buhari has reemphasized the reasons why his administration prioritized the development of infrastructure in Nigeria.

Buhari noted that infrastructure development, like a road, is also a statement of economic efficiency and is made possible for the private sector developers as a result of ease of doing business.

The President spoke at the Completion and Handover of Rehabilitation of Sokoto – Tambuwal -Jege – Kontangora – Makera Road, Phase I and II in Sokoto and Kebbi States with contract no. 6161 ON THURSDAY, 25TH NOVEMBER, 2021.

He was represented by the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF and Minister of Justice, AbubakarMalami, who noted that road construction encompasses a story of the capacity of the Nigerian people.

Malami noted that patriotic Nigerians who were employed directly to construct the road, the scores of suppliers indirectly employed and are responsible for providing the machines utilized in the construction had all played their parts.

He described the workers as not only nation builders to whom we offer our salutations; they are the heart of the Nigerian economy, the micro, small and medium enterprises that drive our economic growth.

“This is because the travel time of averagely 4 hours before construction has now reduced to 2 hours since the completion of the road,” adding that, “this road is part of our many roads to prosperity because reduced journey times means reduced expense on travel because time is money.

Of course, he said another element of change is the travel experience on a new and well-built road from the old and previously not motorable road.

One of those duties is to ensure that we drive following the law as stipulated in the Highway Code.
