President Muhammadu Buhari said he had directed all government agencies and business enterprises to grant Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS access to their systems.
The President said the directive was part of efforts to use technology to plug all revenue loopholes.
It was gathered that he ordered the FIRS to deploy automation, in line with international best practices fully.
Meanwhile, the FIRS disclosed that Nigeria’s first National Tax Dialogue was held on Thursday, January 21 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.
The Dialogue titled Taxation as a panacea for national development was chaired by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami.
The agency disclosed that it has created more 35 Tax Audit Units in the last one year to stem the acts of Tax evasion including Illicit Financial Flow and Profit Shifting in Nigeria.
It was reported that the FIRS generated N4.95 trillion in 2020, thereby meeting 98% of the tax target.
