President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed disappointment in persons that engage ghost workers in the public service.
He declared that he’d hunt them out and guarantee that punishments, in accordance with the law, are meted on such individuals corrupting the system.
On Tuesday at the State House in Abuja, the President made the vow to curtail the activities of recruiters of ghost workers while giving the keynote address at the 3rd National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in the Public Sector.
He spoke on ‘Corruption and Cost of Governance: New Imperatives for Fiscal Transparency,’ while noting that those in the public service who recruit, conceal and defend the activities of these non-existing workers, assured that the authorities would deal with them.
Buhari to Penalise MDAs with Fake Projects
His assertion is coming from some activities of the heads of government Ministries, Departments and Agencies who label new projects as ongoing will be penalised when found out.
“Government will strike a balance to maintain social equilibrium, mitigate the effects of the economic hardship and at the same time reduce the cost of governance.” He said.
