President Muhammadu Buhari has applauded Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, who recently decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Buhari said he was proud of Governor Umahi over what the President described as a bold decision to defect to the APC by following his conscience and principles rather than any external influence or coercion.
The President also commended Umahi for his boldness to take the courageous decision noting that he made the move in a country where principles are in short supply among many.
He said though people might call him names, Buhari opined that it is the price men of principle have to pay for acting according to their conscience and convictions.
In a statement issued by Malam Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, the President described Governor Umahi’s defection as a bold move.
You will recall that Umahi, along with members of his cabinet had on Tuesday defected to APC. The governor cited injustice to the South-East by his former political party as the reason for the defection.
