Pa Kasumu
Nollywood Veteran actor, Kayode Odumosu popularly known as Pa Kasumu passed on to glory on the 1st of March, 2020 after a long-term illness. The veteran actor was diagnosed of heart illness in 2013 and has battled to get back since then but finally gave up the ghost in the afternoon of Sunday, 1st of March 2020 in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Pa Kasumu born on the 16th of March 1953 in Agbeni area of Ibadan, Oyo State sometimes ago had his pictures surfacing online showing his deteriorating state. In 2013, he was diagnosed with Biventricular Heart Failure which made the then governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to donate #2million for his treatment.
The pipe-smoking actor who was very popular in Yoruba movies for his diction has been flown abroad for this illness but couldn’t get on his feet. The illness made him have partial stroke and that generated rumours from the public who claimed he is blind sometimes ago. He however, quenched the rumour, stating it is the stroke that affected one side of his eyes.
Pa Kasumu also stated that his condition is not medical as it worsened after he got back from India in 2017. In an interview in late 2019, the thespian said his sickness was of a spiritual nature and not medical as many presumed.
The news of his death was shared by Foluke Daramola, a popular Yoruba actress on her Instagram page. The Nollywood actress who launched a lifeline for ailing and other aging Nollywood veterans in December 2019 tagged ‘Nolly veteran SOS Project 2019’ which had Pa Kasumu as one of the beneficiaries broke the sad news.
She wrote ‘’Our model veteran actor Pa Kasumu Kayode Odumosu finally takes a bow. It is with so much heavy pain in our hearts we regret to announce that our #paraafricafoundation model-actor Pa Kasumu, has given up the ghost after a brief illness’’.
