Burna boy’s mother, Bose Ogulu, also known as the Namix, has given her two cents to navigate your life as a Nigerian woman, especially in the younger years.
In the video she made, a younger lady in her twenties asked Bose what her advice was to younger Nigerian ladies. She made it clear that you will be addressed by the way you carry yourself, so it was important to project what you wanted for yourself first. She also gave other pointers in her speech that goes;
“Carry yourself the way you want to be treated. If you make yourself an object, you will be treated like an object. Let people know that there is a brain between your ears, and when they do, they might be uncomfortable around you, but they will respect you. I made up my mind a long time ago that it is more important to be respected than to be liked…”
In terms of professional carriage and assertion, Bose Ogulu advised young Nigerian women to be competent in whatever they set out to do or strive to achieve competence in their field. She also mentioned that it is better to keep shut in discussions you know nothing about but also encouraged to speak the loudest when you have knowledge of a topic.
