A few days after bandits reportedly abducted over 300 students in Katsina, Boko Haram insurgents have killed over 50 Nigerian refugees in Tumur Town, a community in the Niger Republic.
According to some of the refugees, who spoke to journalists, the bloody attack left many people and animals dead.
It was gathered that most of the inhabitants of the town are refugees from Abadam Local Government Area of Borno state.
You will recall that a similar incident occurred in May 2020, which prompted over 2000 households to relocate to Damasak in search of safety and protection after attack by members of the Boko Haram sect.
However, government officials and international organisations in Damasak predicted that the town of Damasak may experience the continuation of a mass influx of people from Niger in the coming days.
