Boko Haram insurgents attack village in Borno

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have overpowered local vigilantes and attacked Debiro village of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State. Debiro, 48 kilometers to the local government headquarters was last attacked in the year 2018.

It was reported that the insurgents arrived at the village in five Toyota Hilluxes and started shooting intermittently.

The shooting, which caused pandemonium and panic in the village, made the villagers to scamper for safety in nearby bushes.

The attackers unleashed terror on the community without being confronted by either the police or military and the local vigilantes could not fight back as they were overpowered and had to retreat when they could no longer bear superior fire power.

The community primary school and other public buildings were burnt up by the attackers but the number of casualties were not ascertained at the time of filing this report.
