Boko Haram Commanders Surrenders, Seek Forgiveness (Photos)

Some Top Boko Haram commanders, their families and followers have reportedly surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Bama Local Government, Borno State; they also begged Nigerians for forgiveness.

According to Army Spokesperson Onyema Nwachukwu, the Chief Bomb Expert of the terrorist group known as Musa Adamu and Usman Adamu, his second in command were among those that surrendered.

The Army spokesperson said the recent escalation of offensive operations coupled with non-kinetic efforts by troops of operation Hadin Kai yielded massive surrendering of Boko Haram Terrorists in the North East.

Nwachukwu revealed that the acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Brigadier General Abdulwahab Adelokun Eyitayo, was at Headquarters 21 Special Armoured Brigade Bama to receive the surrendered Boko Haram terrorists and their families.

Brigadier General Eyitayo described the decision of the terrorists to drop their arms as commendable, adding that they should also talk to their colleagues in the forest to embrace peace and rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, General Eyitayo said the terrorists would undergo some rehabilitation process at a Government facility before reintegration into the society.

The Army spokesman said many of the terrorists surrendered due to the intensified Nigerian military campaign on their enclaves, internal skirmishes, the overwhelming famine, discontent, health challenges, and untold hardship facing them in their hideouts.

He added that the Nigerian military had intensified its kinetic and non-kinetic approach towards the ongoing fight against insurgency.

EveryEvery.ng gathered that the surrendered terrorists and their families include 335 fighters, 746 adult women and children, including one of the abducted Chibok girls.
