Bobrisky Reacts to Arrested Gay Couple in Delta State

Bobrisky, a popular Nigerian transgender and social media personality, has spoken out against actions of the gay couple in Delta State. Expressing concern for their behaviour, Bobrisky joins a growing chorus of voices insisting that they deserve to be arrested.

The arrest of the gay couple sent shockwaves throughout the nation. The couple was detained by authorities allegedly for engaging in same-sex activities, which are criminalized under Nigerian law. Their arrest has reignited the debate surrounding LGBTQ+ rights in the country and prompted a call to completely abolish it

Bobrisky, known for her bold and unapologetic stance on various social issues, took to her social media accounts to express her disappointment with the couple and demand that due process be carried out in prosecuting the case.

In a series of heartfelt posts, she hinted that although love knows no boundaries, gender, or sexual orientation, they went too far parading themselves in that manner when such a ceremony is illegal in Nigeria.

Bobrisky’s statements have elicited mixed reactions from the public. While many of her fans and LGBTQ+ rights activists commend her for using her platform to advocate for coordination, others criticize her for taking a stand with the security services that made the arrest.

Local human rights organizations and international activists have also spoken out against the couple’s arrest, calling for the decriminalization of homosexuality and an end to the persecution of LGBTQ+ individuals in Nigeria.

They argue that such actions are in violation of fundamental human rights and discriminate against a marginalized community.

Nigeria, like many other countries in Africa, enforces strict laws against same-sex activities. The Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, passed in 2014, prohibits same-sex marriage, public displays of same-sex affection, and the registration of gay clubs, societies, and organizations.

These laws have often been criticized for fostering discrimination, violence, and social stigma against the LGBTQ+ community.
