In a dramatic turn of events, controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has refuted allegations claiming he bribed officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with 15 million naira. The accusations emerged after influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, released a voice recording purporting to feature Bobrisky discussing the alleged payment intended to have money laundering charges against him dropped.

In the recording, Bobrisky is said to have claimed that the bribe was arranged to influence EFCC officials regarding his legal troubles. He also asserted that he never spent a day in prison despite being sentenced to six months for naira mutilation earlier this year.

Addressing the controversy, Bobrisky vehemently denied the claims, labelling the recording as a fabrication. In an Instagram post, he stated, “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira and that I was never in prison. I didn’t pay any EFCC money; it is a very big lie. I served my term in full and I came out. Discard any false information.”

Bobrisky’s comments come on the heels of his conviction in April 2024, which led to a six-month prison sentence. However, he asserted that arrangements made by his godfather allowed him to serve his sentence in a lodge rather than a traditional jail setting.

The allegations and Bobrisky’s response have sparked significant discussion on social media, with supporters rallying behind him and critics questioning the credibility of both the claims and the rebuttal. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact Bobrisky’s public image and career.
