Biola Kila (Episode 45): Beautiful Wedding
It was a normal day for Efe, a day like every other day; the only thing that was different was the cloud that plagued the sky. But a cloud wasn’t really unusual because of the season, the only unusual thing was the dream she had a night before and the night before that.
Efe’s mother was a very calm woman who had the ability to make Efe feel calm in the midst of an emergency. “Mummy can you remember the time I found her unconscious in her house?” Efe asked “yes my dear. Why?” “I don’t know I have just been thinking of it lately” “as you are thinking of it, remember that she woke up from that incident” Efe’s mother replied, words that were supposed to reassure Efe of Biola’s safety but did very little.
After the phone call she got ready dressed and went to work; her thoughts were all over the place, so she decided not to drive. She called Biola on the phone because that was the only thing that would help her stop feeling the fear she was feeling for her friend.
“How far? What are you doing?” she asked Biola “I’m at work, where do you think I am?” Biola was surprised by the question “Sorry, I thought you said something about taking the day off yesterday” Efe tried to save it but Biola could feel that something was up.
“Are you alright?” she asked “no I am not, I have been having this terrible dream about you and I don’t know what to do about it” was what Efe really wanted to say “yes, just wanted to check on you” she replied and found a way to quickly end the phone call before Biola persists with more questions.
When she entered her office, her boss was waiting for her “good morning sir” she greeted him cautiously puzzled at his presence in her office. “We have a situation” he went straight the point “someone called me to tell me that a story about the President is about to come out” Efe’s heart dropped at his words, she immediately knew what the story was about.
“What is the story about?” she asked “the person told me that it is about the President’s mistress, says he has a mistress that he is obsessed with; that she lives in Lagos and that is the reason why he is always in Lagos. I want to know if you still have connection to the President”
“Yes I do. Why? Do you want us to carry the story?” Efe asked her heart full of fear of the answer her boss was going to give. “No, I want you to inform your connection to inform the Presidency so that they can do what they can to stop the story from coming out” “Oh ok” she replied with discreet relief.
“Let me know, when you have made the call” “okay sir” her boss left her office and she took a moment to catch her breath. That morning when she woke up, she prayed that her dream was just a fluke of the subconscious but with the latest development, it didn’t seem so.
“I want to ask you something and I want you to honest with me” “yes what is it?” Efe masked her fear with firmness as she talked to Biola on the phone “are you still seeing Kenneth?” “No” Biola replied within a heartbeat. “Thank god” Efe was very relieved and then went on to tell Biola about the latest development. “Okay, thank you for telling me. I will take care of it” Biola said and the call ended.
“Is everything alright?” President Kenneth asked Biola. They were in her bedroom “the news about us will soon come out” she said to him and he sat up on the bed. “Don’t worry, I will take care of it” he replied beckoning at her to come back to bed.
