Billionaire Kidnapper, simply known as Evans, his arms dealer, Udeme Upong, will be spending up to five years in jail for illegally selling weapons to the kidnap kingpin.
Yesterday, the judge who passed the sentence, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, Ikeja Special Offences Court, had enough evidence presented in court to make his decision.
It would be noted that Upong, the illegal weapon dealer, is one of the collaborators of the kidnapper, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike (Evans), as other co-defendants include Joseph Ikenna Emeka and Chiemeka Arinze, also charged before Justice Taiwo, on a seven-count charge of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to kidnap and selling of firearms.
They were alleged to have attempted the kidnapping of Vincent Obianodo, Chairman of the Young Shall Grow Motors.
However, at resumed proceedings yesterday, Upong, through his counsel, Mr. A. B. Josiah, informed the court of his intention to change his plea of ‘not guilty to ‘guilty’.
Afterwards, Justice Taiwo ordered the prosecution to review the fact of the case.
