Former Manchester City and France defender Benjamin Mendy is set to sue the Champions League defending champion and Premier League winners Manchester City for over 11.5 million dollars in unpaid wages.

Why Benjamin Mendy wants to Sue Manchester City

The World Cup winner was recently cleared of rape and attempted rape charges, claims he is owed 9-10 million pounds gross by the Premier League champions.

Benjamin Mendy’s accountant told the High Court in London that the player’s agent is in negotiations with Manchester City to get the back pay on the basis that he has been found not guilty. He said City had not paid Mendy since September 2021, when he was suspended by the club after the charges against him were announced.

Following the accusations against the player he lost many things and was almost bankrupt. He put up his house in Manchester for sale just do he can raise money for himself as all partners and sponsors backed out on him. Since his he was declared innocent of all the charges he has returned to football as top Ligue 1 side Lille signed him recently. For Manchester City, the player is hoping to make legal case against the club so he can get all the money the club is owing him.
