Outside the participants, we will be looking at the various themes of the show and how it relates to the then state of the country.

BBNaija Themes and How they relate to our Society from Season One to Six

We will look at the show from when the theme of the show started getting ground which can be traced back to 2017 then, the theme was SEE GOBE. SEE GOBE was coined from a Yoruba slag GOBE which was invoked at the time. Popular Nigerian singer Davido did a song GOBE and it is everywhere in the country.

It was slang used by almost everyone in the country so BBNaija introduced the theme that will be understood by everyone which was the SEE GOBE which means see trouble. The show was season two and it was won by Efe Ejeba who also introduced a popular slang too BASED ON LOGISTICS. He was given 25 million as the prize.

Season three followed up the next year and it was named DOUBLE WAHALA. DOUBLE WAHALA was also coined from a song which was trending at the time. The song was sung by Oritse Femi it was Banga at that time on the lips of Nigerians as always they brought what the society is familiar with which is the DOUBLE WAHALA. They picked the PEPPER DEM and it fits in well as it is the song of the moment. The show was won by Mercy Eke, she made a record as she became the First Lady to ever won the first position in the BBNaija reality show.

In the year 2020, season five was released and it came with a twist from the music scene which was understood by her viewers. The period when it was released was a time the whole world was on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. The theme was simply LOCKDOWN, the show was won by Laycon who came in as the most unlikely to win. Laycon is currently an ambassador to many brands and a music artist as well.

The theme was SHINE YA EYE and it was held in Lagos. The show was won by Whitemoney who was a predicted and anticipated winner from the date of his entry into the house.

BBNaija season seven is set to be released and the question now is will they go back to coining themes from the trending songs or will they continue using the reality of the society? Should they go back to music which music do you think will be the best to be used as they are many trending songs in the country now?
