In a recent development from the Big Brother Naija ‘No Loose Guard’ season, housemate Shaun has addressed claims that he made disparaging remarks about his girlfriend, Wanni.
The controversy began when Shaun commented on Wanni’s choice of deodorant, which led to a misunderstanding. Shaun had said, “The deodorant you used smells differently,” referring to a change in scent from her usual product.
“My Sure has finished so I used Rexona,” Wanni replied
Wanni, who had switched from her usual Sure to Rexona, took this remark negatively and relayed to her twin sister, Handi, “This one [Shaun] said I’m smelling.”
In response to Wanni’s interpretation, Shaun clarified, “I didn’t say that. Why are you like this?” He emphasized that his comment was only about the change in fragrance, not a critique of her hygiene.
The incident also echoes a previous controversy involving evicted housemate Rhuthee, who had accused Wanni and Handi of body odour before leaving the show. Rhuthee later expressed regret for some of her remarks in a post-eviction interview.
This incident brings to mind a similar situation from the 2019 ‘Pepper Dem’ season, where housemates Mercy and Tacha had a falling out after Mercy accused Tacha of having body odour. Their feud lingered for years before they recently began following each other on social media.
As the ‘No Loose Guard’ season progresses, viewers will continue to watch closely as relationships and misunderstandings unfold in the Big Brother Naija house.
