Former Big Brother Naija season 9 housemates, Chinwe and Zion, have expressed their surprise at the level of criticism they’ve faced since their eviction. In a recent interview on Beat 99.9FM, the pair revealed that they were caught off guard by the negative public opinion surrounding their relationship.

“We came out to some shocking revelations,” Chinwe shared. “Based on the conversations we had, misunderstandings were part of the game. But coming out, opinions were formed as well and based off those opinions, we didn’t really expect that level of criticism towards the relationship.”

Zion echoed Chinwe’s sentiments, adding, “They’re so deep in it.” The pair expressed their bewilderment at how seriously the public has taken their personal matters.

Recall that Chinwe and Zion entered the Big Brother Naija house as a romantic couple and frequently engaged in intimate acts. During their time in the house, Chinwe’s delayed menstrual period sparked rumors of pregnancy. In a previous interview, she dismissed these speculations, stating that there are various reasons why a woman’s period might be delayed.

“I think that was an ignorant take,” Chinwe said regarding the pregnancy rumours. “People miss their periods for various reasons. It could be stress induced, It could be a hormonal imbalance, or anxiety. I personally suffer from anxiety disorder, so whatever the situation was, it was certainly not down to me being pregnant. Don’t get me wrong, being pregnant is a good thing, but right now, Mama is still single,” she said with a laugh.

As Chinwe and Zion navigate the challenges of post-show life, they are learning to cope with the unexpected scrutiny they’ve faced. Only time will tell how they will manage to move forward and rebuild their public image.
