Barcelona Players to be Tested for Covid-19 Before Training

Barcelona has ordered that all their players must be tested for coronavirus before they will resume training. The test will be conducted at the club’s training ground on Wednesday before resuming individual work “in the coming days”.

The Spanish La Liga clubs have been given the go-ahead to resume training this week following the easing of some restrictions by the government. Barcelona says the league “gave the go-ahead” for testing after inspecting the facilities at their training ground.

Although the training has resumed, La Liga organizers are still aiming for a June restart to the season. Players from the top two divisions will train individually after an agreement with Spain’s sports and health authorities that guaranteed the safety of both players and staff.

The Spanish La Liga was suspended indefinitely in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, and all players must be tested before they can return to training facilities. Barcelona who is currently topping the league has said other clubs should also do the same.

Part of the training safety measures includes training sessions which will range from individual to small groups and then team training. In a statement released by La Liga, it says: “These measures cover a period of approximately four weeks with different phases that, in any case, will be subject to the de-escalation process established by the government.”

There are 11 matches left to be played, and Barcelona is topping the league table with two points ahead of Real Madrid who are the second place position.
