Bandits Storm Abuja, Abduct Residents

Suspected armed bandits have reportedly stormed a community in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, where they kidnapped four residents.

An eyewitness said the suspected kidnappers struck in the Kiyi community around the Kuje Council Area of Abuja.

A source revealed that a government worker, Salami Olalekan was amongst the four persons abducted by the bandits.

Mr Olalekan, a staffer of the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, was abducted alongside a technician, taxi driver and motorcycle rider.

According to William Salami, an elder brother to the FCDA staff, the kidnappers had contacted the family and demanded a 50 million naira ransom.

Everyevery.ng gathered that the FCT police spokeswoman, Mariam Yusuf said the FCT police command had launched a rescue operation to free the kidnapped victims.

Earlier, bandits have launched attacks on residents in areas like Pegi, Kwali and Kuje axis and some other communities in the FCT outskirts, leading to the abduction of dozens.

In another development, Everyever.ng had reported that water scarcity hits the FCT, Abuja. Some FCT residents resorted to fetching water from the streams and rivers due to water scarcity.

The affected communities are Kubwa, Bwari, Dede, Dutse, Kaigini, where residents have to choose between patronising water hawkers at 250 Naira per keg or join long queues at public boreholes.
