Atiku Congratulates Professor Charles Egbu, 1st Black VC In UK University

Following the appointment of Profesor Charles Egbu as the Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University in the United Kingdom, UK, President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has congratulated him on his appointment.

Both the President and Atiku Congratulated Egbu on his appointment as the first black person appointed the VC of the University.

In a statement, the President described Professor Egbu as a Nigerian whom the younger generation should emulate.

Also, Atiku in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle described the appointment of Charle Egbu as historic.

You will recall that the management of Leeds Trinity University confirmed the appointment of Professor Charles Egbu on the University’s website on Tuesday the 14th of July, 2020.

Also in a tweet on its Twitter page, the University disclosed that Professor Egbu would take over from Margaret House, who will be stepping down after seven years.

According to the tweet, Professor Egbu will return to Leeds, a city in which he studied and taught, to begin his new role on 1 November 2020.

Reacting to his appointment, Professor Egbu described it as an honour.

Egbu said he was looking forward to building on the strong foundations established under the leadership of Professor House.
