The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has further extended its warning strike for another two months.
Although the Union is yet to release an official statement to this development, one of the National Executive Council members confirmed this on Monday.
ASUU not Backing Down on Their Demands
He revealed that the outcome of the NEC meeting which was held at the union’s national secretariat at the University of Abuja started on Sunday and ended on Monday morning was that the strike should be extended for another eight weeks.
He further disclosed that the strike would be called off if only the Federal Government renegotiate the 2009 FGN agreement with the union on the working conditions of Nigerian academics and deployment of UTAS in the university system.
Recall that ASUU declared an immediate “comprehensive and total” strike on Monday, February 14, 2022, for an initial four weeks, with the Government yet to reach a resolution.
