Arsenal Star Losses Mom to COVID-19

It is a piece of sad news as Arsenal and Uruguayan midfielder, Lucas Torreira, losses his mother, Viviana, to covid-19 illness.

The football star’s 53-year-old mum was recently taken to the Intensive Care Unit after contracting the virus in Uruguay.

Torreira who is on loan at Athletico Madrid flew home to stay by the mother’s side before she eventually passed away on Tuesday, 30th of March, 2021.

Lucas Torreira loses mom to covid-19

Before this time, the Arsenal star himself has had difficult times with coronavirus.

Lucas Torreira was among the players who contracted COVID-19 back in November 2020 following international duty and he was the 12th national team star to have returned a positive result at the time.

Torreira was also the third Arsenal star to contract the coronavirus behind Mohamed Elneny and then Gunners star Sead Kolasinac.

The Uruguayan player becomes the 2nd premier league star to lose mother this week.

Manchester United midfielder, Juan Mata also lost his mother to a mysterious illness.

His teammate, Marcus Rashford wrote, “I’m so sorry brother. I can’t even imagine how you are feeling. Just know your family is here for you, we’ll do whatever we can to help you through this, the same way you have always looked out for me. Love to you and your family @Juan Mata
