Arsenal players have disagreed to the suggestion that their salaries would be cut by 12.5 per cent as the Coronavirus and lockdown order continues to bite harder on the economy of the world.

There have been several dialogues and consultations about possible ways to sustain the finances of Arsenal Football Club and get soft landings after the suspension of sporting activities across the globe.

The Executives and players of the club have discussed several options after the players were informed that the club’s finances might be heading for a rock if the season is cancelled or restart behind closed doors, but none of the options has received a nod by the players.

The pay cut was put to the vote by the squad, but it resulted in total rejection. The proposed pay cut was meant to save the club from spending 31 million dollars from its annual and regular 286 million dollars wage bill.

It would be recalled that the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) hinted players on rejecting all offers of wage reduction amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
