Arsenal host Tottenham in the first north London derby of the 2019/20 season with both teams looking for a speedy return to winning ways. Both the Gunners and Spurs had a disappointing weekend as they both had their first defeat of the season.
Tottenham Hotspur lost at home to Newcastle United who has not won any match in their Premier League campaign this season by a goal to nil (1-0). Unai Emery’s men failed to secure a point at Anfield last Saturday as they lost 3-1. This showed that their defense is still very much a work in progress.
Both managers can’t afford a derby defeat. Therefore the game will be with much expectations as none of them will want to drop a point. The Gunners side have no fresh injury concerns. Alexandre Lacazette could return to Emery’s starting XI to partner with Nicolas Pepe and Augbemeyang. Arsenal currently occupies the 3rd position in the league table and they are most likely to use the 4-3-3 formation.
Arsenal stands a better chance of winning the derby. Pochettino already admits the present Spurs team is unsettled in an interview. “I think this is my 6th season and the most unsettled group”. And with injury crisis facing them. Kyle Walker-Peters (hamstring), Juan Foyth (ankle), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), and Tanguy Ndombele. Can Arsenal capitalize on the present injury challenges facing Spurs and use them to get back to winning ways?
MY VERDICT FOR THE GAME IS 3-1 IN FAVOUR OF THE HOME TEAM, ARSENAL.
