Arsenal football club has finally signed a replacement for German international Mesut Ozil who left to Turkish side Fenerbahce recently. They have completed the signing of 22-year-old Norway international Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid.
Arsenal Completes Martin Odegaard’s Signing
Martin Odegaard will spend the rest of the season with the English Premier League side Arsenal. Gunnars hope the young star will fill in the vacuum left by Mesut Ozil at Emirate.
The 22-year-old playmaker is likely to wear the jersey number 11 which Ozil wore first, and he is to make his debut on Sunday against Manchester United who is yet to lose an away game for a year now.
Martin Odegaard is a good buy for Mikel Arteta although the player never wanted to play for the Gunnars team. Odegaard requested to join Real Sociedad, but Real Madrid says Sociedad is a rival to them, so he had to join Arsenal.
According to Odegaard, Arteta played a significant role in his decision to sign for the club. He said: “I spoke to him before coming here, of course. That was very important for me, and he seems like a top manager, and I liked his ideas, the way he sees football and also the way he is.”
He also said: “He gave me a great feeling and that was important for me to come here. He was crucial.”Talking about the club as a whole Odegaard said: “I think every time you go to a new place, you want to make sure that it feels good and that there is a plan. But I think everything here just seems good.”
“I like the club, and I always liked the way that the club wants to play. Everything about the club and now how the manager wants to play, I think it’s a club that really suits me well. So I think it’s a good match.”
