Joe Aribo Scores in Scottish Premier League

Super Eagles playmaker Joe Aribo was on target for his side Rangers in the weekend as his side go six points clear of Scotland defending champions Celtic. Rangers beat Livingston in the Scottish Premier League in the weekend, Super Eagles of Nigeria star Joe Aribo opened the scoring before former Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe doubled the lead in the 38 minutes of the game.

Jermain Defoe scored his 300th club career goal in the clash and helped Steven Gerrard’s men continued their domination through the second half. Celtic played out a 3-3 draw with Aberdeen giving Steven Gerrard’s side much needed energy to press on for a win to stop their domination in the league.

Livingston is suffering their second defeat in a row and they remain ninth in the Scottish Premier League table. Rangers have scored a total of 32 goals in 11 games, while Livingston has scored 17 in nine games. Each side had a lot to be motivated for in this fixture, too. Rangers were eyeing the chance to increase their lead at the top, while Livingston knew a win would lift them into the top six.

Gary Holt’s men were made to pay early on for a lack of concentration in their own box. Ianis Hagi collected the ball and fed Jermain Defoe, whose shot was blocked, but the Livi defence ignored the threat of Aribo who slotted in unmarked six yards out. Rangers are now six points above Celtic who have being winning the league back to back.
