Aproko Doctor, Popular medical professional Dr. Chinonso Egemba, widely known for his health advocacy, has raised serious concerns over a trending baby weight-gain pap product being promoted on TikTok. In a tweet addressed to NAFDAC (National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control), Dr. Egemba highlighted the potential risks of the product, particularly for infants as young as four months old.
“Dear @NafdacAgency, I’m guessing this is within your purview. No one knows what is inside that pap. Also, this is setting these babies for damage. Baby is only 4 months old,” he wrote.
The controversy began after TikTok user @purely_organicc shared customer reviews praising the product’s effects. One review claimed, “My customer’s baby is now a celeb everywhere we go. People dey gather her, calling her boss baby. The joy is heavenly.” Another review boasted that a one-year-old child using the product weighed an alarming 47kg.
These claims have sparked widespread concern among medical professionals and parents alike. Critics argue that such rapid and unnatural weight gain could have long-term health consequences for children, including obesity and developmental complications.
Dr. Egemba’s call to action has amplified the conversation, urging NAFDAC to investigate the product’s contents and ensure it complies with safety standards. As of now, there has been no official response from NAFDAC or the product’s manufacturers.
