The Ekiti State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has announced the indefinite suspension of Babafemi Ojudu, the political adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari and 10 other chieftains of the party in the state.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Ade Ajayi, the party accused the suspended Chieftains of disobeying its directive. They were also accused of failing to withdraw cases instituted against the party in court.
According to the party, aside from Ojudu, other members suspended are Oyetunde Ojo, Wole Oluyede, Ayo Ajibade, Femi Adeleye, Akin Akomolafe, Bamigboye Adegoroye, Olusoga Owoeye Dele Afolabi, Toyin Oluwasola and Bunmi Ogunleye.
Premium Times reported that the suspension is based on the recommendation of the investigative/disciplinary committee inaugurated by the SEC to investigate the disobedience of certain party members to the National Executive Committee.
Meanwhile, Ojudu, while reacting to the suspension on behalf of the suspended members stated that they remain, members of the party, as he also described those behind the suspension as illegal members.
Also, Ojudu accused the governor of the state, Dr Kayode Fayemi of being the brain behind the suspension as he further accused him of being an APC member on paper and PDP in heart. He added that Fayemi supported Obaseki and wants to destroy the APC.
However, Fayemi has refused to comment on the allegation that he supported Governor Godwin Obaseki of the PDP against the APC candidate in Edo, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
