APC Leadership Gets New Twist as Buhari Picks side

Share

The confusion currently surrounding the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC Leadership took a new twist on Wednesday evening as President Buhari made his opinion known.

The APC leadership has been experiencing different confusion for over a week as the court made the decision to uphold the suspension of APC chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, with the court then recognizing Victor Giadom as the Acting Chairman of the party.

The APC National Working Committee (NWC), however, announced former governor of Oyo state, Sen Abiola Ajimobi as the acting chairman, with Prince Hilliard Eta chosen to represent as the chairman due to senator Ajimobi’s current battle with coronavirus.

The committee refused to recognize Mr Victor Giadom, insisting that the Rivers state politician was no longer a member of the National working committee after he left his role in the party in order to contest for the Rivers state governorship election as a deputy.

President Buhari Position on APC Leadership

The president has however now spoken, through a statement released on Twitter by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu who said the President, after receiving advice on the situation, chose to side with the law in announcing Victor Giadom as the Acting National Chairman of the APC.

The APC leadership battle was put to a stop by the president’s statement, with President Buhari urging the media to stop passing out false news as he would be attending the virtual APC meeting called for by Victor Giadom on Thursday.

The president in the statement also expressed hope that the meeting would also be attended by the APC governors and leaders of the National Assembly.

Victor Giadom released a statement on twitter after hearing the stance of President Buhari on the APC leadership, giving glory to God and noting that the leadership is all for the good of the party.
