A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe has raised alarms regarding a recent World Bank report declaring the Naira as the weakest currency in Africa.
In a Facebook post on the morning of October 18, the chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, expressed his astonishment at this development, questioning how Nigeria, despite being “the most endowed country in Africa with the most educated people with excellent weather and fertile land among other advantaged factors,” could find itself in such a situation.
Joe Igbokwe lamented that the prevailing mindset among Nigerians appears to be one of self-interest rather than collective national progress. He emphasized that “almost everyone in Nigeria is just working for themselves with no one working for the good of the country,” suggesting that a lack of communal effort may contribute to the nation’s economic challenges.
His comments reflect a growing concern among many Nigerians about the economic state of the country, particularly in light of recent reports highlighting the Naira’s decline. As discussions about the nation’s economic strategy continue, Igbokwe’s remarks resonate with those calling for a more unified approach to national development.
