Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte who helped Inter Milan lift their first Italian Serie A title after 11 years, has left his role as Inter Milan manager. The manager made this decision just three weeks after winning the league title with the club.
The 51-year-old Italian spent two years in charge of Inter and had one year remaining on his contract, but he chose to leave before the expiration of his contract. Inter Milan thank the manager in a statement they sent. Inter thanked Conte for his “extraordinary work” at the club.
Antonio Conte has recently been linked with Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane was rumoured to be leaving the club this summer. Also, English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur is hoping to bring the manager back to the English Premier League as they look for a new manager to manage their team.
Chinese retail group Suning who is the owner of Inter Milan is reportedly suffering financial pressure, which is expected to lead to cost-cutting at the club and player sales this summer. In February, Jiangsu FC, also owned by Suning, folded just three months after winning their first Chinese Super League title. Inter Milan is looking at bringing Massimiliano Allegri and current Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi to continue from where Antonio Conte has stopped.
