Spanish La Liga top side Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that France international Antoine Griezmann is available for sale this summer. The France international has been strongly linked with a return to Atletico Madrid, while many Premier League clubs have also shown interest in the player.
Barcelona president Laporta said that the attacker is ‘loved’ by the Catalan giants. Still, the club’s financial problems need them to take some deliberate actions, and so the World Cup winner has to go to fund their club. He said: “Griezmann is a player that has a market, with clubs interested, and we are building the squad searching for a financial equilibrium.”
He also said: “With Antoine, we don’t have any problem. We love him. But if the market moves, we are open to all offers because we are in a delicate moment where we have to balance financial fair play and because of that, we should speak with all the players so that it does not hurt them, or (if it does) for the least time possible.
The Barca president ended the comment by saying the club needs to balance the club’s finance, and the only way to do that is to let some players go. 30-year-old Antoine Griezmann is only a victim of the action, which is not intended to harm or hurt any player. Griezmann scored 35 goals and provided 17 assists in 99 appearances for Barcelona since his arrival.
