Another state governor in Nigeria has been confirmed positive for COVID-19 as the second wave of the pandemic ravages the nation.
News filtered in that the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has been confirmed positive for the virus.
Governor Ortom took to his Twitter to announce the result of his coronavirus test and hinting on his present state.
“This is to confirm that the result of my last COVID-19 test returned positive. Though I have not shown any symptoms, I have already commenced treatment.“
He also appealed to everyone who have had a contact with him in the last couple of days on the next action to take.
“Let me advise those who have come in contact with me in the last couple of days to go for test.”
His health current health status was also confirmed by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase in recently released press statement.
Ortom’s positive result is coming days after one of his close aides got a COVID-19 positive result.
The Benue state governor is not the first Nigerian governor to contract the virus as Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State among others have had their share of it.
