Edo state governor and the governorship candidate under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Godwin Obaseki has suffered another setback as one of his Commissioner resigned from his cabinet.
The Commissioner for minerals, oil and gas, Joseph Ikpea on Wednesday, September 9 tendered his resignation letter 10 days to the governorship elections in the state.
He stated that politics is all about interest, trust and respect for one another noting that he has never seen anything of such till date.
The Commissioner opined that he introduced the All Progressive Congress APC to the people of Esan south LGA adding that over 90% of his supporters are APC members.
He also expressed concern that the Obaseki-led administration did not recognise his leadership role noting that he get information either from ward Chairmen, LGA Chairman, or SSA to Mr Governor.
Ikpea, who became the third commissioner to resign from Obaseki’s government thanked Governor Obaseki for the opportunity given to him to serve under his administration as the Commissioner for Minerals, Oil and Gas.
In the meantime, Obaseki has revealed that the Arewa community in Edo state has joined other ethnic groups in the state to declare their support for his re-election bid.
He said although they were Edo citizens, they do not have to be Edo indigenes to benefit from the government because they had businesses and paid their taxes in the state.
