How does your mother pray for you? How does your father narrate his initial romantic encounter with your mother? How does your grandfather or his father tell you his date of birth? How acquainted are you with the fashion, music, and sensibilities of the 70s and 80s Nigeria? And finally, what are you doing this weekend? Dike Chukwumerije’s poetry for theatre production, Made in Nigeria, is set to be staged in Abuja this weekend.
Since its maiden staging in Abuja in October of 2016, “Made in Nigeria” has toured the country holding in Enugu, Benin, Ife, Bonny, Jos, Maiduguri, Yola, and multiple time in Abuja and Lagos. The show has become a sensation among Nigeria’s literary and cultural community.
“Made in Nigeria” combines poetry with dance, music, drama, and humor to deliver what remains the most wholistic portrayal of the Nigerian sensibility on stage yet. It is a show that reaches for your heart while keeping your head close. Every performance is deliberate and calculated and a depiction of how rich the Nigerian people are.
So, what are you doing this weekend? This is yet another opportunity to catch this genius of a show if you are in or around Abuja this Saturday 27th July 2019. The event will commence at exactly 6 pm at Merit House, Maitama.
