Yesterday, truck drivers in Adamawa State caused a major blockade at the Yola-Gombe Highway over the constant harassment from the Nigerian Police Force, NPF.
The action demonstrated how fed up they were in going about their daily businesses as the police reportedly assaulted their member, among other previous disputes in the past.
The leader of the drivers Union in Adamawa, Yusuf Haruna, revealed that the truckers concluded to obstruct movement in the area following the offence of an officer towards their member for refusing to bribe him.
Haruna disclosed that it took the intervention of other truckers to salvage the situation as they rushed to save the molested driver before the problem got out of hand.

However, it was learnt that the police officer, who was also trigger-happy, fired tear gas to disorganize the angry crowd.
Haruna explained that when the situation deteriorated, his colleagues blocked the road completely, adding that while the police beat the driver, N40,000 went missing from the driver’s pocket.
