Former Manchester City left-back Angelino says City manager Pep Guardiola never trusted him when he was them. He also said the Spaniard killed his confidence. He only regained his confidence when he completed his move to German side RB Leipzig.
Angelino joined Manchester City at the aged of 16, but he has not enjoyed the senior teams due to continuous loan spells. He finally decided he completed his move to RB Leipzig after a brief move to PSV Eindhoven.
Angelino is a first-team starter in his new side, and he has been doing well in the team. He was among the key players that knocked out Manchester United from the 2020/21 Uefa Champions League.
His new manager Julian Nagelsmann says he is confident of using the left-back in his starting line-up. Angelino said he had a rest when he was with Pep for six months, and to him, that was enough time for him to get a place in the starting line-up.
According to him, he said: “I don’t want it again. That’s why I want to be on the pitch. I don’t like being out. I am thankful that I get to play most of the time. I had enough holidays.”
Red Bull Leipzig is currently in the second place position in the German Bundesliga table. He was asked who he likes the most between Guardiola and Nagelsmann.
He said the two managers are good, and they all like to play with the ball, get the ball quick, but the difference is that one gave him confidence while the other never did, and Pep is the one who never had confidence in him.
