The Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) is back and set to hold for eight days in contrast to the previous editions.
The awards show, which is in its eighth year, was last held in 2020 and did not make an appearance in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2022 AMVCA Schedule
According to the organizers of the award ceremony, the event has been slated to run from Saturday, 7th May 2022, to Saturday, 14th May 2022.
7th May, the first day of its return has been tagged the AMVCA Opening night, followed by a runway show on May 8th tagged, ‘Design for the Stars’, in partnership with BellaNaija Style, and will feature competitions for budding fashion designers.
The 3rd day of the event May 9, will be the ‘Multichoice Talent Factory’, which will include movie screenings and panel discussions by students of the MTF academy.
May 10 is for Content Creators, where industry stakeholders and enthusiasts will be hosted to a special ‘Africa Magic Content Market Day’.
Furthermore, May 11 has been tagged, as ‘Pan-African Food Festival and Cultural Day’; while May 12 is programmed for digital content creators.
Friday, May 13 is a special gala night for award nominees; while the grand finale is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2022.
The Head of Content, Africa Magic, Busola Tejumola, has revealed that $500m will be made available for the development of indigenous content in five years and the ‘Best Soundtrack’ category winner will also go home with N1m.
Actors, Adesua Etomi-Wellington and Daniel Effiong will unveil the nominees on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
