Akeredolu Reacts To Ethnic Clash In Ibadan (PHOTO)

The Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has reacted to the ethnic clash in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

In a tweet on Sunday, Akeredolu said he joined his Oyo State counterpart, Engineer Seyi Makinde on behalf of the southwest governors forum to visit the troubled communities in Ojoo, Shasha area of Ibadan.

Governor Akeredolu said the Forum appealed for calm and implored the communities to let the appropriate authorities handle the situation.

Earlier, in a statement signed by the Governor of Ondo State who doubles as Chairman, South West Governor’s Forum, he said it has become very compelling for him to address all residents, particularly the Yoruba speaking people of the region.

Ethnic Clash In Ibadan

According to him, the Forum do not support violence, brigandage, jungle justice and unnecessary self-help.

Governor Akeredolu visited scene of the ethnic clash in Ibadan.

However, he urged all Southwest indigenes to sustain these values and enviable virtues by remaining law-abiding.

You will recall that Governor Makinde has imposed a 24hours curfew on Shasha market as he also ordered that the market be shut down indefinitely.

Makinde said the order follows the continued killings and destruction of property in the market.
