Afenifere Leader’s Daughter, late Mrs. Funke Olakuri, will be getting justice as her killers have been given the death sentence for the crime committed.
Her killers, three, out of four of them, would be getting the ropes, that is death by hanging as ordered by the Ondo High Court, Akure, in Ondo State.
However, the High Court resolved to release the fourth suspect as he was discharged and aquitted for the prosecution process not having enough substantial amount of evidence to convict him.
Those sentenced to death by Justice Williams Olamide include Muhammed Shehu Usman, Mazaje Lawal and Adamu Adamu. They would be handed for offences ranging from conspiracy to murder, kidnapping and armed robbery, to mention a few.
Also, Justice Williams pointed to the evidence provided in court that the same convicts were involved in the attacking and killing of a hunter identified as Matthew Ogunbiyi in the forest and took a German-Nigerian hostage, who they released after a ransom was paid.
They were also charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and actual commission of armed robbery contrary to Section 1 (2a&b) for the Robbery and Firearm Special Prohibition Act CAP R11, Volume 14, Laws of the Federation.
Recall that the Afenifere Leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti’s Daughter, Olakunri, was killed in July 12, 2019 along Ore/Ijebu-Ode Road in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state when she was traveling to Lagos from Akure for a social function.
