For the first time after his re-election as President of the African Development Bank Group, AfDB, Dr Akinwumi Adesina on Thursday, September 10 visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa Abuja.
The Presidency in a tweet noted that Akinwumi paid a ‘Thank you‘ visit on President Buhari for his support during his re-election bid.
Adesina, who has earlier thanked President Buhari for supporting his ambition to continue as president of the African Bank described the President’s support as exceptional.
Also, he stated that Nigerians stood by him as he vowed to make Nigeria and Africa proud.
You will recall that Adesina was recently re-elected for another five-year tenure as President of the AfDB and he has been congratulated by many prominent Nigerians including former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki and former Minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala among others.
The visit came a few hours after President Buhari Chaired a meeting of National Food Security Council where he highlighted the devastating impact of recent floods on the progress his administration has made so far.
Buhari, who commiserated with the flood victims and their families said he was pleased to note that many Nigerians are taking advantage of the immense opportunities in the agriculture and agri-business sector.
He assured Nigerians that his Government will continue to work towards ensuring the protection of agricultural investments and boost confidence to Nigerian farmers by deploying thousands of Agro-Rangers.
