20-year-old Manchester City loanee has been named Best Young Player at the just concluded 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
Burkina Faso’s right back Issa Kabore did not score a goal throughout the tournament but played a major role in helping the Stallions finish fourth.
Issa Kabore’s contribution to the team has been recognised by the organizers, naming him the Young Player of the tournament at the 2021 AFCON.
Kabore is currently on loan at Troyes and played every minute of Burkina Faso’s matches in Cameroon contributing three assists.
Troyes is part of the City Football Group and Kabore has made 17 appearances in Ligue 1 so far in this campaign.
Burkina Faso lost their third-place match in an abysmal fashion after going three goals up, just to lose on penalties after Cameroon equalized three goals in 20 minutes.
Senegales forward Sadio Mane won Player of the tournament with his counterpart Edouard Mendy claiming the Goalkeeper of the tournament while Vincent Aboubakar claimed the Golden Boot with eight goals in seven matches.
