ADC Explodes Over Salary Hike: Feed the People, Not the Politicians

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has lashed out at the proposed salary increase for Nigerian politicians, describing it as a reckless and insensitive move at a time when millions of citizens are battling hunger, inflation, and economic hardship.

In a strongly worded statement, the party declared that the priority of government should be ensuring fair wages and relief for ordinary Nigerians, not padding the paychecks of political elites who already enjoy enormous privileges.

The reality is clear Nigerians need food on their tables and living wages, not another round of luxury for politicians, the ADC stressed, accusing leaders of being disconnected from the struggles of everyday citizens.

The party further argued that raising salaries for lawmakers and officeholders would only deepen inequality and fuel public anger, warning that such actions risk undermining trust in governance.

Instead, the ADC demanded immediate wage increases for workers, civil servants, and low-income earners, alongside policies that focus on job creation, affordable housing, and access to essential services.

With growing frustration across the country over rising costs of living, the ADC’s fiery stance echoes the sentiments of many Nigerians who view political pay hikes as a betrayal of public trust.
