Actor Jussie Smollett Will Not Be Back For Empire Season 6

On Tuesday, Fox renewed hit TV show Empire for a sixth round. However reports saying Actor Jussie Smollett will not feature in the upcoming sixth season. 

Jussie Smollett has portrayed one of Luscious Lyon’s sons but was written out of the final two episodes of season five, following his involvement in a nasty scandal. He was charged with filing a fake police report. Also, faking an attack on himself due to unsatisfactory salary condition from the show runners. All charges against Smollett have seemingly been dropped however, Smollett has refused to cover the reimbursement fee of $130,000 as instructed by the city of Chicago police.

In a press statement released by the studio;

“By mutual agreement, the studio has negotiated an extension to Jussie Smollett’s option for season 6. But at this time there are no plans for the character of Jamal to return to ‘Empire.’”

Fox Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV said in a joint statement to ET. “We’ve been told that Jussie will not be on Empire in the beginning of the season but he appreciates they have extended his contract to keep Jamal’s future open.” Smollett’s personal rep told ET in a statement. “Most importantly he is grateful to Fox and Empire leadership, cast, crew and fans for their unwavering support!”.
