A ghastly accident has claimed the lives of three police officers along the popular Gwarimpa expressway after their vehicle swiftly went off track.
The incident, according to eyewitnesses, transpired when tyres attached to the van suddenly punctured and made the vehicle veer off the road right into a ditch along the roadside.
According to the report, the van was conveying men of the Special Tactical Squad, STS, all officers of the Nigerian Police Force, NPF.
It was gathered that the tactical squad died on the spot, and others who boarded the same vehicle sustained various degrees of injuries.
In the report, an eyewitness who gave his name as Musa revealed that the police van moved at a potentially deadly pace and lost control due to bad tyres without signs or warnings.
Another eyewitness told the publication that he learned the officers were escorting to Kaduna for a particular assignment.
However, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, those operating along the Kubwa axis, tried everything to salvage the situation and clear the road for other motorists.
