AC Milan and Torino yesterday during their Koppa Italian quarterfinal game, wore black emblem to pay tribute to the legendary Kobe Bryant. The Basketball legend alongside his daughter and seven other people died in a helicopter crash on Sunday. He was aged 41, and his daughter 13, Milan paid the respect for the basketballer because he lived in Italy for several years as a child and supported AC Milan.
Before kickoff, a video was displayed on the big screen at the San Siro stadium showing photos and clips of Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. Both sets of fans applauded in the 24th minute – five-time NBA champion Bryant wore shirt number 24 for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Fans were seen with big banners with his picture as well. The match ended in favor of the home team AC Milan 4-2. It was an interesting evening after a 2-2 draw in the full time of the game. They went to the extra time of the game and that was when the victory came. Milan are not the only football team to have shown their grive and mourn the 5 times basketball legend many other footballers have also shown their grive. Neymar Jnr and Mbappe of PSG had earlier expressed their grive in their last game which Neymar scored brace.
Former Los Angeles Galaxy striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, scored his second goal since returning to AC Milan as they reached the cup semi-finals. Giacomo Bonaventura gave the hosts the lead before Brazilian defender Bremer’s two goals put Torino ahead. Hakan Calhanoglu equalised in stoppage time, and netted again in extra time before Ibrahomivic made sure of the victory by adding a fourth.
