Job Title: Library Teaching Assistant (Full Time)

Job Details: The assistant supports the daily operations of the library, including supervising students and the use of the library space, teaching library lessons, greeting visitors, responding to requests for information and assistance, retrieving and operating equipment, preparing reports, cataloging books and materials, and supervising the Book Room collection. In addition, the assistant is responsible for operating computers and auxiliary equipment, and reports work accomplished to the librarian.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support daily operations of the library
  • Manages the circulation desk
  • Plans and teaches library lessons
  • Participates in professional development courses
  • Assists students, teachers, and parents in finding resources
  • Organizes and circulates resource (Book Room) materials
  • Catalogs library materials
  • Performs clerical activities
  • Performs annual inventory
  • Inspects books for damage and checks overdues
  • Repairs books
  • Sends out notices for lost or overdue books
  • Shelves library books
  • Reorganizes misshelved books
  • Updates or enters patron records in the library database
  • Runs library reports assisting in updating or weeding the catalog
  • Answers routine inquiries
  • Responds to emails with questions related to the library; phones parents whose emails bounce back to notify them of fines to pay
  • Decorates bulletin boards
  • Operates and maintains audio-visual equipment (headphones, iPads, desktop computers)
  • Stands in for the librarian when unavailable
  • Any additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by the librarian

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Library Science/Education, or related fields
  • Library work experience with proficiency in the use of a wide range of electronic office equipment and computer applications.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working directly with children.

Remuneration: ₦200,000.00 – ₦300,000.00 per month
