Abike Dabiri Says NIDCOM Evacuates 6, 317 Nigerians

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri Erewa has announced the total number of Nigerians evacuated from different countries around the world.

Abike, who revealed the number of the evacuees during a press conference on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, stated that a total of 6,317 Nigerians have been evacuated due to Coronavirus outbreak.

The conference was held ahead of the 2020 National Diaspora day celebrations, which is slated for July 25th, 2020.

In a tweet by the Commission, Abike stated that 17 Nigerians have returned from Senegal, 56 from Pakistan, 268 from China, 247 from both Malaysia and Thailand.

She added that 147 Nigerians have returned from Lebanon, 51 from Canada, 324 from South Africa and 205from Ghana.

Also, 806 Nigerians were evacuated from the united state of America, 831 from the United Kingdom, 117 from Saudi Arabia and 372 from Egypt.

Seventeen Nigerians were evacuated from France, 540 from India, 1, 405 from United Arab Emirate, UAE Dubai, 324 from Turkey, 365 from Sudan 3 band 172 from Uganda and Kenya.

The tweet reads We have had 6,317 evacuees so far currently, as COVID-19 is still on the rampage, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Nigerian Missions around the world have evacuated 6,317 Stranded Nigerians and still evacuating.

The theme for the 2020 National Diaspora day celebrations is “Leveraging Diaspora Resources for National Development in a COVID-19 Era”.
