A Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abba Kyari and his Intelligent Response Team have landed in Katsina State to battle the kidnappers and armed bandits, who reportedly kidnapped over 300 students in the State.
It was gathered that Kyari and his team have visited the Government Science Secondary School, GSSS where the students were abducted by bandits just as rescue operation of the Kankara Boys continues.
Abba Kyari is a Nigerian Inspector General of Police‘s Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT) and a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
Before his appointment as IGP-IRT, he has served at Lagos State Police Command as the Officer-In-Charge of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Meanwhile, Aljazeera reported that an audio message from a man who identified himself as the leader of Boko Haram has claimed that the sect was responsible for the abduction which happened the same day President Muhammadu Buhari visited Daura, his hometown in Katsina
Though the number of missing students remains unclear, Military spokesman General John Enenche disclosed that 333 pupils were unaccounted for after heavily armed gunmen raided the Government Science Secondary School in the town of Kankara.
